Prints and Drawings

Since the museum’s foundation, aquarelles, drawings and prints have been collected parallel to paintings. The history and conception of the Graphic Arts Collection is therefore closely linked to the painting collection. Up to 1977, the painting and exhibition curators managed the Graphic Arts Collection. Since then, a specialist has been given the responsibility of overseeing works on paper.

Overview
The Graphic Arts Collection contains about 12,000 sheets from the 19th and 20th centuries, a quarter of which are drawings or aquarelles.
