Research

Collecting, preserving, researching, and educating are all the central tasks of a museum. They are mutually beneficial when it comes to the museum’s practical work. That goes for the scholarly preparation and accompanying work for presentations of the collection and exhibitions but also for provenance research or trying out new conservation and restoration methods. The museum comes into contact with current and scientific issues because research at Museum Folkwang is as diverse as is society. As an active member of the research community Museum Folkwang seeks to function as a forum for international exchange between cooperation partners, people in the cultural space, and researchers.
