William Kentridge (*1955 in Johannesburg) gehört weltweit zu den renommiertesten zeitgenössischen Künstlern. International bekannt wurde er Ende der 1980er Jahre durch seine animierten Kurzfilme, in denen Kentridge sich kritisch, zugleich aber auch sehr poetisch mit der Vergangenheit und Gegenwart Südafrikas auseinandersetzt. Diese Filme, die auf großformatigen Kohlezeichnungen basieren, bilden den Ausgangspunkt für ein umfangreiches Œuvre, das Zeichnung, Druckgrafik, Skulptur und Tapisserie ebenso umfasst wie Operninszenierungen und multimediale Bühnenstücke. In seinen inhaltlich miteinander verwobenen Werken thematisiert Kentridge immer wieder die Frage nach Gerechtigkeit, aber auch das Verhältnis zwischen dem Einzelnen und der Gesellschaft.

Konzert: Otis Mensah

Otis Mensah is a Berlin-based interdisciplinary artist whose work spans across fields of literature and sound, exploring the aesthetic fabric of language and cadence to evoke ethereal portraits of the body, family and notions of the Black church. Drawing inspiration from a rich lineage of sampling as an approach to their poetic-sonic practice, Otis derives musicality and multidimensional text from childhood, dreaming and nature.

Following their tenure as the first Poet Laureate of Sheffield, UK, Otis has had a diverse calibre of experience in contemporary art both as artist and curator; publishing their poetry collection Safe Metamorphosis with Prototype London, debuting at Glastonbury Music Festival, performing alongside the likes of Moor Mother, Benjamin Zephaniah and Little Simz and working with a range of galleries and festivals across Europe.

Hatica Khalaj, also known as Chadee, is a multidisciplinary artist and DJ from Munich. Blending carefully selected soulful R&B, Dancehall, House, Bouyon, Dub, Jazz, she crafts high-energy sets that transcend borders and genres, each one unfolding as a unique, layered story. 

As an artist, Hatica curates visual narratives that unite diverse artistic tools, exploring love, belonging, longing, and cultural connections.Through her platform Native Fruits, she curates exhibitions and builds community, delving into diasporic culture, middle eastern heritage, sound, and the interplay of traditional and contemporary art.
