CATALOGUING AND DIGITISATION OF THE MUSEUM FOLKWANG ARCHIVE

First project phase: 1 March 2020–30 June 2023
Second project phase: 1 March 2023–30 April 2025

The project to catalogue the museum’s own archive, carried out from 2020 to 2023, has been completed. The archive is now again fully accessible to researchers and the general public. The digitisation of records up to and including 1950 has been completed. The digitised records can be searched and viewed by the public, without restriction and free of charge, via the database of the Haus der Essener Geschichte/Stadtarchiv.

USE OF THE ARCHIVE

As part of its digitisation process, the Museum Folkwang archive is being gradually transferred to the Haus der Essener Geschichte in accordance with the Act on the Preservation and Use of Public Archival Material in the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (ArchivG NRW).
Records dating from 1950 onwards can still be viewed at the Museum Folkwang.
